Northampton, MA, September, 2022 — BLUROC, LLC, a YAK ACCESS company that provides comprehensive site access services in the Northeast, has won the 2022 contractor award for Excellence in Environmental Health & Safety. The award is presented by AVANGRID — a leading utility company serving more than 3.3 million customers.
This award was the second safety recognition BLUROC earned in 2022. It was granted due to an event-free outcome on a major project and our proactive approach to protecting both the environment and the people working at the site. This award is significant because it is only granted to one company that shows excellence in environmental health and safety. BLUROC was chosen among many of AVANGRID’s power line contractors, including overhead line contractors, substation electrical contractors, equipment and fleet companies, transportation delivery providers and material suppliers. Our mitigations help protect the lives and safety of all team members on the project, including contractors.
In praise of the team, Superintendent Todd Dufresne said, “Site preparations, including line-height signs and the staging area, were well established and in place before work began. A well-established plan was executed!”
BLUROC’s Environmental Health and Safety Director, Zeke Dumas, acknowledges the collective effort required to maintain high safety standards when providing site access for utility and clean energy clients like AVANGRID. “Accepting this award was humbling to me because I was not the person who earned such an achievement, but the people who did [the work] are all in the field.”
